CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE MOVEMENT
A UNITED EFFORT BY THE PEOPLE FOR THE PEOPLE
Days following the military coup on Feb 1 2021, Myanmar people from all walks of life are resisting the junta. Big cities and small towns alike are flooded with peaceful protests demanding democracy and the release of civilian leaders. Civil workers have launched the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) to counter the illegitimate government.
The fight against tyranny is far from over and together, we will regain our true democracy and freedom. We urge all the civil workers in Myanmar to join CDM campaign and we kindly request everyone out there to contribute as much as you can to support CDM participants with livelihood, accommodation and security.
Together, we will prevail.
The Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) is a nationwide campaign whereby blue and white collar workers from government bodies refuse to work under the military regime. This has proven to be an effective way to counter the army since they come to realize that they cannot run the country without the people’s support.
Military bureaucrats are both playing hardball and luring with incentives to get these people back to work. It is crucial for these civil servants not to give up midway and they need the support of local and international donors to continue their non-violent strike against the junta.
